How to reduce no-shows and last-minute cancellations
You blocked out three hours for a braiding appointment. You bought the hair. You turned down another client for that slot. And then they just do not show up.
Take deposits
This is the single most effective thing you can do. When a client has money on the line, they show up.
Set a clear cancellation policy
If you do not have a cancellation policy, clients assume they can cancel whenever they like with no consequences.
Send reminders
Sometimes people genuinely forget. A reminder the day before dramatically reduces no-shows.
Make rescheduling easy
Some cancellations are not actually cancellations. The client still wants the appointment, they just cannot make that specific time.
Build a waitlist mentality
When clients know your slots fill up, they are less likely to treat their booking casually.
